Efficient and accurate surveying with the latest technology
LE34’s experienced team surveys on land, at sea and in the air – all with the latest technology. We fly drones, survey roads with mobile mapping, carry out 3D scanning with a portable VLX and, of course, also survey with GPS, total station and levelling instruments.
Area measurement of new student housing in Västra Hamnen in Malmö
In November 2022, we were commissioned to deliver an area calculation for BaseCamp, a new student housing development in the Masthusen district of Malmö. The area calculation, commissioned by the client BaseCamp Student, forms the basis for the letting plan and rent setting. Over a couple of days, we carried out a complete 3D scan of 11,803 m² with 583 student apartments across 10 floors. We scanned with the NavVis VLX and georeferenced the point cloud with a Trimble total station. Compared with traditional scanning, scanning with the NavVis VLX is far faster. We don’t have to switch between different SLAM techniques along the way. We save time without compromising on accuracy and quality. Mobility and flexibility were also decisive factors in our choice to scan with the NavVis VLX. We carried out the scanning during the construction phase, where the VLX is easy to move around with, and we avoid getting in the way of the tradespeople working in the building.

The international concept BaseCamp Student is behind the new student housing in Västra Hamnen and it is their first project in Sweden. The apartments were ready for occupation in the summer of 2023.
